The Institute of Oncology Research IOR is committed to education and training of students. The Institute is regularly involved in organizing academic and training courses.
European Urological Scholarship Programme (EUSP)
Dr. Giuseppina Carbone, head of Prostate Cancer Biology at the Institute of Oncology Research IOR and member of the European Association of Urology (EAU), has been approved by the EAU as Host for the European Urological Scholarship Programme (EUSP) for training young urologists in laboratory research.
The IOR is now a certified EBU-EAU Host Centre in the field of Prostate Cancer. Applicants for the EUSP Scholarships are urologists or urologists-in-training (third or fourth year resident) under 40 years old with an interest in clinical/laboratory research and an academic position.
Conditions for application:
- Applicants for the EUSP Scholarship must be urologists or urologists-in-training (third or fourth year resident)
- EAU membership for at least one year is mandatory
- Under 40 years old
- Interest in an academic position
Application deadlines 1 January, 1 May and 1 September of each year

University of Lausanne Doctoral School
Our Institute is affiliated with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne (UNIL) for supervision of doctoral students. Doctoral candidates hosted at our institute can be registered at UNIL.
ESMO Translational Research Unit (TRU) visits
The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Translational Research Unit visits at the IOR intends to provide young oncologists with an opportunity to verify their interest in a career in clinical and translational research focusing on new drug development and the most current methodologies in preclinical, clinical and translational research drawing examples from the major areas of interest at the IOSI, like lymphomas, prostate and early phase clinical studies. A Fellowship and Award Committee selects ESMO fellows to attend the TRU visit.
LyFE - Lymphoma Forum of Excellence
The LyFE Course is a yearly course taking place in Bellinzona (Switzerland) dedicated to lymphoid neoplasias, including myelomas. The program of the course is designed by lymphoma specialists, gives the participants the possibility to gain in-depth and updated knowledge in this complex field. Since 2004, the event is organized by the Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI) and the Foundation for the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR).
