Arianna Baggiolini, Group Leader of the IOR Stem Cells and Cancer Laboratory, has been awarded the prestigious Young Investigator Grant from the Helmut Horten Foundation, a Swiss foundation that promotes healthcare by supporting innovative research with clinical relevance, primarily in the fields of oncology and immunology.
The Baggiolini laboratory pioneers the development of human pluripotent stem cell-based technologies to model cancer initiation and progression. Through innovative organoid models, the lab reconstructs specific aspects of the tumor microenvironment in a human-specific context, advancing our understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis.
