Electron Microscopy Facility
The Facility is equipped with a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) designed to provide excellent image quality among a wide range of applications.
The facility is also equipped with instruments for sample preparation and sectioning and a workstation for data analysis. The laboratory can provide ultrastructural analyses of particulate samples (i.e., extracellular vesicles or viral particles), cells or tissues, and protein localization using immunogold techniques.
We also offer advanced techniques such as Electron Tomography, for the visualization of organelles or cells in 3D at nanometer resolution and Correlative Light Electron Microscopy (CLEM), a technique that combines the information from a fluorescent microscope with the EM resolution.
This Facility is managed by the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB): https://irb.usi.ch/facilities/electron-microscopy/
