Francesco Bertoni has been elected as President of the Lymphoma Project Group of Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research

Institutional Communication Service

Lymphomas have always been a main focus for the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) and the Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI - EOC). After many years dedicated to lymphoma research, Bertoni is “very honored of having the opportunity to actively contribute to the clinical research development at national level working together with all the colleagues, also stimulating younger investigators in developing their ideas and careers”.

The Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK) is a non-profit organization, which has been conducting clinical trials in oncology since 1965. Its primary objective is to research new cancer therapies, to develop existing treatments further and to improve the chances of a cure for patients with cancer. The SAKK group is the only national cancer research network, whose members include all university hospitals and many cantonal and regional hospitals throughout Switzerland. At these facilities, patients receive the best therapies according to the current state of the scientific knowledge. SAKK is supported by the Confederation and also by partners such as the Swiss Cancer League.

The Lymphoma Project

Lymphomas are among the most common types of tumors. In Switzerland, they affect over 12,000 people and 2,000 new diagnoses are done every year. The SAKK Project Group Lymphoma is dedicated to establish and coordinate clinical trials for individuals affected by lymphoma at national level, also in collaborations with other international groups.
