Professor Silvio Garattini guest speaker at Castelgrande Lecture 2026

The Bellinzona Institutes of Science Association (Bios+), which brings together the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), both affiliated to USI, is pleased to announce the seventh edition of the Castelgrande Lecture, the annual event dedicated to scientific outreach and dialogue between research and society.
The Lecture will take place on Tuesday, 12 May 2026 at 17:00. at the Sala Arsenale of Castelgrande in Bellinzona. The event will be held in Italian, will be open to the public and followed by a reception.
The Castelgrande Lecture, named after Bellinzona’s historic landmark, hosts each year an internationally renowned scientist distinguished for outstanding contributions in the field of biomedical sciences, with particular focus on oncology and immunology.
The speaker of the 2026 edition will be Professor Silvio Garattini, internationally renowned oncologist, pharmacologist and researcher, president and founder of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research in Milan. A leading figure in European biomedical research, Professor Garattini will deliver a lecture entitled “Prevenzione è rivoluzione”.
The lecture will offer a reflection on the fundamental role of prevention in protecting public health and ensuring the sustainability of healthcare systems, addressing highly relevant issues related to medicine, lifestyles and scientific research.
