The construction site of the new campus in Bellinzona is now open

The construction of the new campus has begun. From the year 2020, the building will host the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) - both affiliated with the Università della Svizzera italiana – and part of the laboratories of the Neurocenter of Southern Switzerland.
The new campus in the ex Campo Militare area in Bellinzona was designed by architect Aurelio Galfetti. The ceremony of the laying of the cornerstone will take place in the beginning of next year in the end of the excavation process. The campus will be ready by the end of 2020.
Construction works are carried out by local companies, with a consequent positive impact on the region’s economy. For the new campus, a total of 11.4 million Francs were contracted out. Contracts were assigned according to the total budget of 45 million Francs.
