Three IncuCyte S3 and one IncuCyte SX5 are available for researchers at Bios+ for real-time imaging.

This advanced microscope provides fully autonomous, long-term live cell imaging using wide-field phase contrast and green, red, orange, and NIR fluorescence. It includes powerful, user-friendly software for analyzing various in vitro applications such as toxicology, migration, organoids, and wound healing.

Key features

  • Automated image acquisition and analysis within a standard tissue culture incubator, maintaining precise control of temperature, humidity, and environmental factors like CO2 and oxygen.
  • Optics that move to the imaging areas while cell culture vessels remain stationary.
  • Capability to simultaneously image and analyze up to six assay plates, compatible with standard multi-well plates(including 384-well, 96-well, 48-well, 24-well, 12-well, and 6-well plates), each running different applications in parallel.
  • Software that generates label-free, time-based growth curves for cells in both 2D and spheroid cultures.
  • Fluorescence metrics analysis, including Fluorescent Count, Average Area, Total Area, Confluence, Mean Intensity, Average Integrated Intensity, Total Integrated Intensity, and Eccentricity.
  • High-definition phase contrast optics and four fluorescent wavelengths (red: ex565-605nm, em625-705nm; green: ex440-480nm, em504-544nm).
  • Automated turret with 4x PLAN, 10x PLAN FLUOR, and 20x PLAN FLUOR objectives.

In vitro image analysis

Available software modules for in vitro image analysis include:

  • IncuCyte® cell by cell for assessing proliferation
  • IncuCyte® fluorescent analysis (cell death, coculture)
  • IncuCyte® Scratch Wound Cell Migration Software Module
  • IncuCyte® S3 Spheroid Software Module
  • IncuCyte® S3 organoids Software Module

The Incucyte® Live-Cell Analysis Systems are compatible with a wider range of culture vessels (from 6-well to 384-well plates).

Bookings: the instruments are listed in the booking system.

Scan frequency: if you need to schedule more than one scan every 120 minutes, please contact the operators or book all six slots from the instrument.

Efficient planning & maximizing usage: If you have an experiment that requires very short scan times, lasting a few hours, it would be better to schedule it for the first day of the week, so that the instrument is available for the rest of the week for those who have experiments lasting several days.

Best practices: a technical note from Sartorius can be found here

A pill of generosity towards others: before submitting the samples, please ensure they are mycoplasma-free. Thank you.
