Role of ESE3/EHF factor in prostate cancer
The group was the first to point out that the transcription factor ESE3/EHF controls prostatic epithelial cell differentiation and that its loss leads to the acquisition of properties shared by tumorigenic and stem cells. The group created the first murine model with conditional knockout of ESE3/ EHF in the prostate. By integrating molecular and functional studies with multi-omics approaches (RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, proteomics) in prostate cells, human and murine organoids, and murine models, the group is characterizing the key events induced by loss of this regulatory factor in prostate cancer.
